Logon
Screen
Initiates sign on to APReWS server when connection available, can
optionally support CAD sign on mask for one logon to both systems.
However it is operationally more convenient for officers to sign
on once to CAD and then use the local logout to "lock"
their terminal in their absence. The report writing functions will
continue to operate without connection to the APReWS server.

Toggle Key for Mode change
The
Escape key
A toggle key between modes, it will shift you sequentially
from the current mode to the next. This toggle key functions at
all levels of the APReWS system. When you move into a mode the last
displayed report, form, message is presented. No loss or destruction
of data occurs.
Left
mouse button
click to select a field, double click to present any pull down selection
lists associated with that field. Click and drag to select all or
portions of a field for Windows edit functions, cut, copy, paste,
delete.
Right
mouse button
click while on unused grey zone in Work Area and a navigational
aid menu will be displayed as a pop up menu.
Function
keys
defined in a mode sensitive fashion while maintaining a sense of
coherence and logical ordering. This is for single keystroke activation
of a function.
Icons
are provided within each mode that with a single click navigates
between modes, between pages or screens within each mode and provides
functions.
Rule of thumb
is that most operational functions will be accessible by 3 means
of activation, mouse, function key and icon.
